IEA and HKPC unveil “Cross Industry Mix-and-match Roadmap”

To assist Hong Kong creative talents and businesses in synergy building, the Innovative Entrepreneur Association (IEA) and the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) jointly compiled the “Cross Industry Mix-and-match Roadmap” to provide a useful reference on successful partnership.

Launching the publication today (7 September 2011), Dr Raymond Choy, President of IEA, said, “The creative industry is one of the six industries which Hong Kong enjoys clear advantages, creating an added value exceeding HK$ 60 billion each year. By combining the strengths of local creative talents and industrial and commercial enterprises can achieve win-win for all. Through the Roadmap, we aim to offer guidance to enterprises on widening their business networks, and identifying new partners for enhanced competitiveness. This will in turn boost the development of the local creative industries.”

Mr Edmund Sung, Director (Business Consulting) of HKPC, said, “With strong network in both the creative and business communities, HKPC is well-positioned to provide them with an effective business matching platform. In addition, HKPC also actively supports local companies to upgrade and transform their business through enhancing their management, brand building and product innovation, to tap the vast Mainland domestic market.”

Featuring the experience of SMEs, creative sectors, industry and legal experts from Hong Kong and Shenzhen, the publication also includes advice on intellectual property management and a six-step roadmap to cross industry partnership, from preparing the business to finding suitable partners.

Concurrent to the launch today, a mini exhibition and seminar on successful collaboration from the Cross Industry Matching Showcase in March this year was held. Mr Jonathan So, creator of the popular Chinese animation “Pleasant Goat and Big Bad Wolf”, was featured as the special guest speaker. These activities are part of a project funded by the CreateSmart Initiative of Create Hong Kong (CreateHK) of the HKSAR Government to promote business synergies between local character and graphic creators and entrepreneurs.

Mr Jerry Liu, Head of CreateHK, welcomes the launch of the Roadmap. “As the government agency dedicated to spearheading the development of creative industries in Hong Kong, CreateHK strives to expand the local market size for the creative industries. We sponsor projects that are conducive to the development of our creative sector to reinforce Hong Kong’s position as Asia’s creative capital,” he said.
