HKPC - 45 Years in Tune with Hong Kong

Celebrating 45 years of partnership with the local industry, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) pledges to continue its tradition of robust services to the community, says Mr Clement Chen, Chairman of HKPC.

In his message published in the HKPC 2011/12 Annual Report, tabled recently (14 November 2012) at the Legislative Council, Mr Chen said, “Celebrating our years of fruitful partnership with Hong Kong industry, we are excited to strike a new note in our corporate history with the launch of the new corporate identity of HKPC. By refreshing our own brand, we hope that HKPC’s vision, mission and core values will be made known to a wider group of stakeholders, particularly the next-generation industrialists who are facing the challenges of business transformation.”

Under the theme of “Orchestrating Excellence for 45 Years”, the Report sheds light on HKPC’s partnership spirit which is in tune with Hong Kong enterprises in meeting challenges arising from economic and technology changes. The Report also reviews the Council’s support to local enterprises in attaining excellence in productivity and expanding their business horizons in 2011/12.

Mr Chen said, “During the year HKPC has been actively pursuing various thematic areas with business potential for Hong Kong enterprises under the National 12th Five-Year Plan. These included the low carbon economy, technology upgrading, integrated transformation and innovation, international and national standards, as well as domestic sales in the Mainland market. We have made solid progress in each of these areas through the implementation of industry-wide initiatives on carbon audit, technology intensive product development, new materials research, automation, testing and certification, as well as domestic sales support programmes for SMEs.”

Mrs Agnes Mak, Executive Director of HKPC, said, “Guided by the four-pronged strategy of scaling up platforms, creating value for SMEs, sharpening core competencies and developing strategic partnership endorsed by the Council, we have introduced new initiatives during the year to help our industry ride out challenges in the prevailing economic landscape.”

“Despite the current challenges, HKPC remains upbeat and cautiously optimistic about the future of Hong Kong industry which has repeatedly demonstrated its resilience in the past four-and-a-half decades. We shall try our level best to help Hong Kong enterprises move with the times to capture new opportunities in the future,” she stressed.
