Happy Organization Label Scheme Promotes Happiness-at-Work in Hong Kong

To encourage businesses and organizations to create a happy working environment, and to raise the happiness-at-work level of the local workforce, the Promoting Happiness Index Foundation and the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) today (14 January 2013) launched the “Happy Organization Label Scheme”.

Mr Gregory So, Secretary for Commerce and Economic Development of the HKSAR Government, officiated the launching ceremony, accompanied by the Foundation’s Advisor, Prof. Frederick Ma; President, Dr Edward Chan; Chairman, Dr Dennis Ng; Vice-chairmen, Prof. Roy Chung and Mr Irons Sze; Chief Executive Officer (Honorary), Dr Helen Chan; HKPC Chairman, Mr Clement Chen, and Executive Director, Mrs Agnes Mak.

Dr Chan said, “The Promoting Happiness Index Foundation is a non-profit-making organization which aims to promote a positive and healthy lifestyle, and lift the spirit of a stressful local workforce through various activities. We urge businesses and organizations to actively participate in this Scheme and pledge their support to create a happy workplace.”

Mr Chen said, “As the all-round productivity partner of Hong Kong businesses, HKPC believes that by building a healthy and pleasant working environment, a company is actually shouldering its social responsibility. Also, a happy workplace can strengthen the resilience and competitiveness of enterprises through the development of positive mindsets among workers, enhanced motivation and creativity, and improved customer service.”

Apart from businesses, government departments, statutory organizations, trade associations, professional bodies, charitable organizations, tertiary institutions, and other local organizations can also join the Scheme. By pledging their support to building a happy workplace, the participants will be awarded the Happy Company or Happy Organization logo for display on their business cards and publicity materials.

Following the launching ceremony, Dr Ricky Szeto, Executive Director of Hung Fook Tong Holdings, and Ms Pauline Wong, Managing Director of Pokka Corporation (HK) Ltd., shared their successful experience in building a happy workplace.

The Scheme is now open for application. For further information, please visit the website: www.hkworkhappiness.com, or contact Mr Nick Chan of HKPC at tel.
