HKPC Sets up the First Independent Software Testing Centre in Hong Kong

<p>In line with the Government’s support to the development of the testing and certification industry, the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) today (9 December 2013) opened the first independent software testing centre in Hong Kong - The Hong Kong Software Testing and Certification Centre (HKSTCC).</p>

<p>由香港生產力促進局(生產力局)、香港工業總會(工總)及珠三角工業協會聯合主辦的第十二屆「香港珠三角工商界合作交流會」,今天(2013年12月6日)在中山舉行。為配合活動,主辦機構特別舉辦「企業創新創商機:由製造至創造」研討會,讓香港工商界加深了解中山的最新發展優勢和機遇,認識工業設計的最新發展,協助企業強化產品在國際市場上的形象。</p>
<p>中山市人民政府副市長馮煜榮、生產力局主席陳鎮仁及工總主席劉展灝在研討會上致開幕辭。</p>
<p>陳鎮仁表示:「香港製造業在內地設立生產基地多年,建立了廣泛的業務網絡,極有潛力發展內銷市場。要成功把握商機,企業必須提升產品設計創新的能力,並透過自創品牌,提高產品和服務的附加價值。」</p>
<p>他續說:「在推動企業提升創新能力方面,生產力局除了提供一站式產品開發的技術支援外,亦積極促進製造業與創意產業合作,充分利用創意設計,令產品以及服務的形象更鮮明,以提升品牌的價值。」</p>

<div>The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) tabled its 2012/13 Annual Report at the Legislative Council today (20 November 2013). Under the theme of ‘Small’, the Report, the first carbon-neutral report ever produced, reviewed HKPC’s new initiatives in the past year to help SMEs to be more agile, creative, sustainable, and to deliver quality services to meet the diverse needs of the customers.</div>

HKCERT Cyber Incident Response Drill Strengthens Local Readiness against Targeted Attacks

<div>With a surge in targeted attacks, the Hong Kong Computer Emergency Response Team Coordination Centre (HKCERT) today (8 November 2013) conducted a territory-wide drill to raise the readiness of local critical Internet infrastructure providers and mobile network operators against such attacks. Some government departments also participated in the drill to test the effectiveness of their incident handling procedures.</div>

Standard Chartered SME Index Reaches 50.0, Fuelled by Growing Confidence

<div>With confidence picking up, for the first time in 1.5 years, local SMEs put aside a negative business outlook. The Overall Index of the “Standard Chartered Hong Kong SME Leading Business Index” (Standard Chartered SME Index) for the fourth quarter of 2013 has edged up 0.8 point to the 50.0 no-change mark. Announcing the latest survey findings today (10 October 2013), the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) noted the Index is at its record-high level since its launch.&nbsp;</div>

HKPC Kicks off First Government-Funded Electric Bus R&D Project

<div>The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) has recently embarked on the first Government-funded R&amp;D project to develop a ‘Made by Hong Kong’ pure electric bus that will fully meet the requirements of the local market. The close to $40 million project is funded by the Innovation and Technology Fund of the HKSAR Government through the Hong Kong Automotive Parts and Accessory Systems R&amp;D Centre, and sponsorship from Green Dynamic Electric Vehicle Limited.</div>
