HKPC and Grow with Google Join Forces to Help Hong Kong Grasp Future Business Skills

(Hong Kong, 3 August 2021) The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) is committed to nurturing Hong Kong digital business talent. Through HKPC Academy, it has joined to launch the Grow with Google global digital training courses designed by Google and become a partner of Grow with Google in Hong Kong and the first local organisation to offer both YouTube Creator Academy and Google Cloud online courses to help Hong Kong seize new digital opportunities.

Ms Karen Fung, General Manager, InnoPreneur (SME & Startup Growth) and FutureSkills of HKPC, said, “With the growing trend of remote work, contactless engagement with clients, and digital integration in various business operations, employers and employees are expected to pick up new skills to cope with companies’ development and stay competitive in the market. Digital skills are the essential FutureSkills that HKPC Academy is promoting to all ages and across all industries to meet the talent demand globally. HKPC is committed to strengthening the local talent pool, and its HKPC Academy offers a wide range of FutureSkills programmes, contributing to the upskilling of the local workforce with the essential digital skills and soft skills to become future proof. Grow with Google is one of the many programmes we are offering on digital enablement within our FutureSkills Framework.”

Miss Nancy Ting, Head of Consumer Marketing, Google Hong Kong, said, “According to the ‘Smarter Digital City - AI for Everyone’ whitepaper released by Google Hong Kong last year, both Hong Kong residents and businesses recognise the benefits of artificial intelligence (AI). Many people showed interest in areas of general understanding of AI and machine learning, application and use cases of AI and machine learning as well as data science and data analytics. They also expect the private (70%) and public sectors (81%) to drive AI education in the city. To bridge the digital talent gap, Google Hong Kong and HKPC roll out the YouTube Creator Academy and Google Cloud online training in order to help individuals and SMEs master the digital knowledge. This is based on our global educational resources called Grow with Google.”

The first free training course, YouTube Creator Academy Online Workshop, has commenced on 30 July. Through three sessions, four hours of workshop tuition and in-class exercises, participants can grasp the preparation for a video shoot, the concept of managing a YouTube channel and advanced channel management along with data analytics skills. They will learn how to use YouTube Analytics to understand channel performance, viewing behaviour and audience profile. Based on the insights, creators can then adjust their approach and manage their channels more effectively. Upon completion, participants will receive course completion certificates.

AI is already embedded in many products, services and apps that Hong Kongers use every day. It is also a foundational technology for business productivity tools, cloud solutions, and digital marketing platforms which have been widely adopted by enterprises. The free online workshop on Google Cloud to be held on 8 October will introduce AI application and how enterprises can apply Vertex AI (https://cloud.google.com/vertex-ai) and Crowdsource Hong Kong Community Group to formulate cloud strategy to solve business challenges and improve efficiency using cloud and AI. Vertex AI is an integrated machine learning platform which can build, deploy and scale machine learning models faster with pre-trained and custom tooling.

In addition, HKPC Academy offers an online learning platform (https://www.hkpcacademy.org/) with free and fee-charging learning resources on FutureSkills topics, including the free e-learning resources of Grow with Google (https://www.hkpcacademy.org/en/hkpc-grow-with-google).
