HKPC Announces Compulsory Use of “LeaveHomeSafe” App for Entry from 8 November 2021

(Hong Kong, 2 November 2021) The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) actively supports the HKSAR Government’s anti-COVID-19 policy. Starting from next Monday (8 November 2021), all HKPC employees, contractors, visitors, students and members of the public must use the “LeaveHomeSafe” mobile application to enter the HKPC Building at Kowloon Tong, with the aim to strengthen Hong Kong’s epidemic prevention barriers, reduce the risk of further spread of the virus, protect public health, and prepare for Hong Kong to resume customs clearance with the Mainland or cross-border travel in the future.

Mr Mohamed Butt, Executive Director of HKPC, said, “HKPC welcomes the government's measures to strengthen the use of the ‘LeaveHomeSafe’ app. The ‘LeaveHomeSafe’ app is an excellent example of assisting epidemic prevention through the application of technology. It helps to further track close contacts after a confirmed case in the community is found, so as to cut off the chain of virus transmission as soon as possible and minimise the risk of large-scale outbreaks in the community. HKPC actively cooperates with government policies and hopes that this move will help stabilise Hong Kong's defence against epidemics, and achieve the goal of gradually resuming to normal customs clearance with various places as soon as possible, which will provide another boost for Hong Kong's economy.”

Under the new arrangement, exemptions will be granted to children under the age of 12, people aged 65 or above, and those with disabilities that render use of the app difficult. They will be required to complete a printed record form with personal particulars.
