(Hong Kong, 20 June 2022) The Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC) warmly congratulates Principal Officials of the sixth-term of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region (HKSAR) Government on their official appointments by the Central People’s Government. With the principal officials of the new government coming from different sectors and possessing rich experience, HKPC believes that under the leadership of the new Chief Executive, Mr John Lee, the principle of “patriots administering Hong Kong” can be implemented, the efficiency of governance will be improved, and their strengths will be brought into play that opens a new page in Hong Kong!
HKPC will fully cooperate with the new HKSAR government in promoting innovation and technology (I&T) development measures and reindustrialisation and strengthening the “industry-university-research” cooperation. HKPC has been the most trusted partner of Hong Kong industries, with a network covering all walks of life and world-class research and development (R&D) institutions. Over the past 55 years, it has grown together with the industry, actively listens to their opinions, supports the industry in terms of technology, research, talents and the use of government funds, leverages Industry 4.0 technology to promote advanced manufacturing, and helps enterprises commercialise R&D results for successful practical application. HKPC has successfully built numerous intelligent production lines for enterprises, attracting high-value-added industries to settle in Hong Kong, and enabling the “Made in Hong Kong” brand to shine on the international stage. HKPC’s world-class R&D achievements have won an array of local and overseas accolades, with more than half of them having been successfully applied, and some even being extended to overseas applications. HKPC hope these efforts will contribute to Hong Kong’s development as a smart city and international I&T centre.
HKPC welcomes and supports Professor Sun Dong as the Secretary for Innovation, Technology and Industry (designate). As Professor Sun has extensive experience in the fields of biomedical engineering and robotics, HKPC believes that under his leadership, Hong Kong’s advantages in I&T and industry will be leveraged, advanced manufacturing, smart city and life and health science will be promoted, and a complete technological innovation ecosystem will be developed. At the same time, it will provide more research employment opportunities for young people, expand Hong Kong’s research talent pool and increase upstream opportunities for young people, and help the industry to create new momentum for Hong Kong’s economy with new technologies.
HKPC is pleased to see that the Government is actively promoting the development of technology industries and talents. It hopes that all sectors of the community will work together to support the government, jointly build Hong Kong's advantageous technology industries, and realise economic diversification in order to create a bright future.
