(Hong Kong, 25 October 2024) HKPC Academy actively supports the measures and visions outlined in 2024 Policy Address to promote education, technology, and talent development. Recognising that talent is a crucial element in achieving new productive forces, the Academy draws upon years of training expertise to cultivate future talent across all stages and aspects. We are committed to providing innovative, diverse, and high-value training services that strengthen the talent pool and foster Hong Kong to become an international innovation and technology (I&T) centre and smart city.
Promote e-Learning Ancillary Facilities Programme to Facilitate Teachers’ Professional Training in Technology
Enhancing teachers' digital literacy and professional skills is essential for talent development. Since 2023, HKPC Academy has collaborated with the Quality Education Fund to promote the ‘e-Learning Ancillary Facilities Programme’, which supports the application and development of Education Technology (EdTech) in schools. In the past twelve months, 22 projects have successfully received funding, with over half of them leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) to create high-quality e-learning solutions. This programme significantly improves students' creative thinking and scientific understanding while addressing the diverse learning needs of students. Additionally, the Academy organises ‘Teachers Development Day’, ‘AI in EdTech Workshops’, ‘Innovative Teaching and New Productive Forces Workshops’ and ‘Positive Stress Management’ events to keep teachers abreast of the latest advancements in technology education (TechEd), ultimately improving their digital competencies and soft skills for overall professional growth.
Popularise TechEd to Nurture High-End Talent from an Early Age
HKPC Academy, as a leading training institution, works closely with educators, STEAM partners, students and parents to build a platform for TechEd development. Every year, we offer a variety of programmes in AI, robotics programming, drone technology, and virtual reality, as well as international competitions and annual events such as the Summer TechEd Fest, Maker Workshops, and Innovation Camps, providing primary and secondary students with more opportunities to engage with technology. Through ‘gamified training’ and ‘hands-on learning’, we enhance the enjoyment of STEAM education, inspiring students' potential in I&T and fostering the development of smart campuses. In response to the Policy Address's emphasis on students’ all-round development, the Academy has also launched AI-integrated sports activities that use smart equipment and data analysis reports to improve the effectiveness of students' physical fitness training.
Enhance FutureSkills Training for SMEs to Seize I&T Opportunities
Considering the evolving market demands, the Academy customises FutureSkills training programmes for businesses, covering the latest technological trends, applications, and growth mindsets. These programmes feature the popular topics such as AI, Blockchain, Cloud Computing, Big Data, Environmental, Social, and Governance and Robotics. Recently, we launched a half-price promotion to local SMEs to study selected courses on our online learning platform - vLearn, encouraging employees to enhance their skills and competitiveness anytime, anywhere. Moreover, some of our training programmes are under the funding scheme of the Hong Kong SAR Government's ‘New Industrialisation and Technology Training Programme’, enabling qualified companies to receive financial support covering up to two-thirds of their training fees. HKPC Academy has been sparing no efforts in promoting New Productive Forces and nurturing local talent. This year, the Academy will launch the ‘New Productive Forces Talent Programme,’ funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission, aiming to cultivate more R&D professionals and entrepreneurs equipped with FutureSkills and innovative thinking to support the development of ‘New Productive Forces’ with Hong Kong characteristics.
Organise Study Tours to Enhance Understanding of National Culture
To strengthen the awareness of national culture and I&T development among SMEs and academia, and to broaden their international perspectives, HKPC Academy hosts a range of study tours to the Greater Bay Area and overseas throughout the year. These tours lead SMEs and students to visit renowned institutions and advanced technology corporates in Mainland China and internationally. Participants will gain a deeper understanding of the country's historical culture, explore smart green technologies, and learn about new industrialisation developments. The Academy is committed to assisting SMEs in seizing business opportunities in the Greater Bay Area and promoting the integration of talent development within the region.
Looking ahead, HKPC Academy will continue to align with the development of the national and Hong Kong SAR Government, connecting the Government, business sector, and academia to cultivate talent and promote new productive forces and new industrialisation.
