HKPC Academy’s Signature "HR x L&D Mixer" Series Experts Reveal AI Trends in HR to Reshape Talent Management Landscape

(Hong Kong, 30 Sep 2024) The emergence of artificial intelligence (AI) is transforming various industries, and human resources (HR) management is no exception. AI is revolutionising traditional HR practices and driving rapid development in the field. In line with this trend, the HKPC Academy organised the "HR x L&D Mixer #3” previously, aimed at providing an interactive platform for HR professionals and L&D practitioners to meet with industry experts, discussing the latest trends and applications of AI, as well as exploring the potential and impact of technology on HR management.

The event was well-received, attracting around a hundred representatives from HR industry. The Smart HR Forum, hosted by Ms Cherry Lee, Head of HKPC Academy, invited several renowned Corporate Management and Talent Development experts including Ms Charlene Yu, General Manager, Hong Kong & Macau, ManpowerGroup, Mr Jack Cheung, CEO & Cofounder, PerksBar Limited, Mr Leo Siu, General Manager, HRM Business, Computer and Technologies International Limited, Mr Kin Tse, HKPC Academy trainer and Ms Virginia Lun, Vice President, Human Resources, HKT Limited, to share their valuable insights and experience in the discussion.

According to the latest "Employment Outlook Survey" report, AI technology is becoming increasingly prevalent, with over 50% of surveyed enterprises already adopting AI tools. However, employers in Hong Kong reveal that nearly all organisations face challenges in AI adoption, primarily related to cost, a shortage of AI skills, and privacy concerns. And almost half of the companies expect an increase in workforce due to AI and Machine Learning (ML) over the next two years. The demand for talent in emerging technologies such as AI, machine learning, and big data is expected to rise in the market. Speakers also shared that AI technology can drive automation and streamline HR administrative processes, including recruitment, employee record management, and payroll calculation, significantly improving the efficiency of talent interviews and matching while reducing costs. While addressing concerns about AI lacking a human touch, the speakers emphasised that AI can make precise adjustments based on employee needs and enhance interaction, engagement, and a sense of belonging through “gamified” training. Enterprises should seek a balance between technology and human, leveraging the strengths of both for mutually beneficial outcomes. Furthermore, effectively utilising AI for in-depth data analysis and integrating employee feedback can help management predict employee turnover rates and develop effective retention strategies. The speakers also reminded that as the reliance on AI and machine learning deepens, enterprises must pay attention to data security and follow ethical practices. In summary, integrating AI tools into daily operations not only enhances work efficiency but also allows for more effective resource allocation, drives innovation and operational planning, and establishes a more efficient management system, ultimately creating greater value for businesses.

Ms Karen FUNG, Chief Marketing Officer & General Manager, InnoPreneur and FutureSkills, HKPC, stated, "In the digital era, enterprises must actively improve their digital literacy to remain competitive in the market. In addition to customising a range of AI programmes for corporate HR, HKPC Academy is launching an 'AI GYM,' which offers employees AI assessment reports to help them gauge their individual skill levels and capabilities in AI. We plan to cultivate AI Coaches for major enterprises, implementing the concept of 'One Company, One AI Coach.' Through practical training, we aim to develop AI specialists to enhance the overall AI competency and ensure the effective use of various AI tools within company. To raise general public's awareness of cyber security risks posed by AI applications, the Academy offers free Lunch & Learn sessions for corporates and employees to explore the considerations for AI applications in personal data protection and legal liability, ensuring that businesses and employees avoid legal pitfalls. In the near future, HKPC Academy will launch the 'New Productive Forces Talent Training Programme,' funded by the Innovation and Technology Commission. It aims to nurture more R&D talents and entrepreneurs equipped with FutureSkills and innovative thinking to support the development of 'New Productive Forces' with Hong Kong characteristics.”
