2006 Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Productivity & Quality Category Invites Entries

Local enterprises with outstanding achievements in productivity and quality are invited to enter the 2006 Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Productivity and Quality Category, organized by the Hong Kong Productivity Council (HKPC).

Productivity and Quality is one of the seven categories of the 2006 Hong Kong Awards for Industries, which recognizes performance excellence of local enterprises in both the manufacturing and services sectors and is the only Awards Scheme of its kind championed by the HKSAR Government.

Mr M P Au, General Manager (Total Enterprise Management Consultancy) of HKPC, said, "Under the changing business landscape and globalized competition, both the manufacturing and service sectors in Hong Kong need to enhance their productivity, as well as product and service quality."

"By recognizing productivity and quality excellence of Hong Kong enterprises, the Hong Kong Awards for Industries: Productivity and Quality Category also promotes best practices in various aspects of service and industrial operations, setting the benchmark for industry players," he said.

According to Mr Au, there are three categories of awards, namely the Productivity and Quality Grand Award, Productivity and Quality Awards, as well as Productivity and Quality Certificates of Merit.

Entries will be assessed according to a set of criteria covering leadership and strategic planning, customer and market management, innovation and creativity, excellence management and improvement system, resource management, as well as business results. The winning companies will be honoured at an awards presentation ceremony on 5 February 2007.

Entry forms are now available from the website of the Awards Scheme at: www.hkindustryaward.org. The closing date for application is 8 September 2006.

A showcase on the achievements of past winners and a briefing session on the Productivity and Quality Category will be held on 10 August and 25 August 2006 respectively at the HKPC Building.
